Margaret O. Jamison

Margaret O. Jamison, 98, of Dayton, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Back to Basics Personal Care Home in Dayton, PA.

She was born on July 24, 1925 in Warwick County, VA; the daughter of David Mercer and Mattie Lee (Owens) Griffin.

Margaret was a loving and caring person who often was there to help friends and neighbors when they needed it most. In her younger years, she worked at Nye Branch Nursery in Porter, PA. Margaret loved nature and animals, especially the three pugs and many hunting dogs that she had over the years. She enjoyed working in the yard, planting flowers and feeding the hummingbirds and cardinals. She was an avid card player, playing every Monday night for years with a group of friends. Margaret liked relaxing on the swing outside and visiting with her friends and neighbors. Family was her greatest love and she loved hosting and cooking Christmas for many years.

Her memory will be cherished by sons, John "Dutch" Jamison and wife Nancy L. of Kittanning, Charles E. Jamison and wife Nancy Jo of Rimersburg, and Donald E. Jamison and wife Joyce of Dayton; grandchildren, David Jamison and wife Tracey, Amy Baloh and husband Rick, Brad Jamison, Jennifer Ross and husband Jason, Christy Clark and husband Michael and Wendy Pelky; and great-grandchildren, Julia Jamison, Alexandra Jamison, Kayla Jamison, Anna Grace Baloh, Charles William Ross, Emily Jamison, Zac Jamison, Samantha Pelky, and Evelyn Pelky.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, John J. Jamison, whom she married on April 4, 1942 and who passed away on Oct.21, 2011; her brothers, Blair Rowe and David Griffin; and her sisters, Betty Wilson and Ella Mae Gorrell.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sherry Stockdale and the staff at Back to Basics for the love, care and compassion shared with Margaret over the past five years.

Family and friends will be received from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024 at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, 125 East Main Street, Dayton, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church, 2540 Dayton Smicksburg Road, Dayton, with the Pastor Sheila Wadding officiating.

Interment will be in the Atwood Cemetery, Atwood, PA.
