Charles "Fred" Fletcher, 87, of Worthington, PA, went to be eternally with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 22, 2024 at Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford, PA.

He was born on Feb. 10, 1937 in Kittanning, PA the son of Kenneth and Goldie (McMillen) Fletcher.

Fred Graduated from Kittanning High School in 1955 and Blair Tech in 1963. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1956 and served for two years in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1962. Fred had a long career in coal mining starting at Allegheny River Mining and then Rochester and Pittsburgh mines, retiring in 1996. He was able to move to the Cook Forest area where he and his wife enjoyed many years at their camp (made retirement home) for many years. His enjoyment in retirement was building their retirement home and gardening. Fred was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 62 years, Wanda (Bowser) Fletcher; son, Kenneth Fletcher and wife, Nancy; daughter, Mary Jo Gaiser and husband, Scott; grandsons, Andrew Gaiser (Kevin), and Ryan Gaiser (Heather); step-granddaughters, Donna Guthrie, Ellen Mahler, and Julia Williamson and husband, Nathan; step-great-grandchildren, Steven Guthrie, Leeland Guthrie, Hunter Giles, Levi Williamson, and Blair Williamson. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Joy Barnhart, Judy Skelley, and Susan Peat and husband, Richard; brothers-in-law, Jack Shaeffer and Gerald Bowser; a special cousin, Ruth Crain; many nieces and nephews; his friend and Pastor Jimmy Edwards and wife Joanna; and his caring and loving church family at the Furnace Run Chapel, Kittanning.

He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Basil and Laura McMillen; paternal grandparents, Charles and Frances Fox; Sister, Connie Smith; sister-in-law, Gloria Shaeffer; father-in-law, Kenneth Bowser; mother-in-law, Hazel Bowser; brothers-in-law, Paul Bowser, Kenneth Bowser, Keith Claypool, Walter Barnhart, and Robert Smith; and a very special nephew, Joseph Peat.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the Furnace Run Chapel, 154 Montgomery Road, Kittanning, PA, where military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in Fred's honor to the Furnace Run Chapel.
