Orville Earl Myers, 97, of Mansfield, TX, formerly of Rimersburg, PA, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 16, 1918 in Toby Twp., Clarion County, PA, the son of Samuel Vincent and Anna Blanche (Wilson) Myers.

Orville spent much of his youth in Rimersburg. He graduated from Clarion College with a Bachelor's degree in Education and taught for a year in Imperial, PA. A purple heart recipient, he honorably served his country in the US Army's 45th Infantry Division, traveling to Italy, Southern France and Germany in combat during WWII. Following the war, he joined the Air Force where he was stationed in Texas and subsequently chose to reside thereafter. Orville was a truck driver in civilian life for the trucking company E.L. Farmer Co. in Grand Prairie, TX. He was a life member of the Shearer-Shick American Legion Post 454 of Rimersburg and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Grand Prairie, where he sang in the choir. Orville had a great love of music and owned numerous keyboards. He played piano all his life and enjoyed creating sounds using synthesizers and speakers.

He will be deeply missed by his sister, Anna Mae Lingenfelter of Mechanicsburg, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dwight W., Eugene and S. Vincent Myers; and sister, Fern Matthews.

A graveside service will held at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 28, 215, at the Rimersburg Cemetery where military honors will be presented by the VFW Post 7132 and American Legion Post 454 of Rimersburg.
