Clayton Ardell McKenzie, age 87, of Chicora, PA passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the Chicora Medical Center.

He was born in Fairview Twp., Butler Co., PA, on April 21, 1924, the son of Homer C. and Jean O. (Miller) McKenzie.

Clayton lived in the area all his life. He was a member of the St. Paul's Community Church of Chicora. He attended the Karns City Area High School prior to honorably serving his country in the US Army with the Company C 39th Infantry Training Battalion. He married Marian Olcus on June 27, 1959 and they shared 52 beautiful years together. Clayton was employed in the shipping department with the former Koppers Chemical until his retirement in 1983. He had also previously worked with Wildwood Coal Mine.

Clayton took great pride in maintaining his and Marian's home; their lawn was always well-groomed. In his younger days he enjoyed golfing. He was a loving husband, caring father and brother, and will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he has touched.

His memory will be carried on by his wife, Marian Louise (Olcus) McKenzie; and a sister, Vivian L. Milheim of Muncie, IN.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, David James McKenzie who died April 17, 2005.

Friends and family will be received from 7-9 PM on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia.

Additional visitation will be held from 1 PM until the time of funeral services at 2 PM on Friday, September 2, 2011 at his church, St. Paul's Community Church, 2167 St. Rt. 268, Chicora, PA 16025 with his minister, the Rev. Dr. Randall Forester, and Chaplain Patricia Sawaya officiating.

Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Twp., Armstrong Co., Pennsylvania.

In honor of Clayton, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
