Junior Laverne Aites, 76, of Rimersburg, PA, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016, at Clarion Hospital.

He was born June 7, 1940 in Huey, PA, the son of William A. and Evelyn C. (Flick) Aites.

Junior was a lifelong resident of the Rimersburg area and graduated from Union High School in 1958. He honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Junior formerly worked as an equipment operator for Lycoming Construction, a communication line installer for Penn Line, a coal truck driver, and for an underground coal mine. He most recently worked as a machinist for Daman Industries in East Brady.

He was a member of the former Licking Cherry Run Presbyterian Church and attended Bethel Baptist Church. Junior also belonged to American Legion Post #0454, the NRA and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Hunting was one of his favorite pastimes and he enjoyed working on cars. Junior was an avid follower of Pittsburgh sports teams - especially the Steelers - and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Jane M. (Saylor) Aites, whom he married April 16, 1966; sons, Jeffrey L. Aites, of Rimersburg, Scott W. Aites and companion, Suzanne, of Rimersburg, and Michael J. Aites and wife, Polly, of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Brayanna Aites, Alex Aites, Elizabeth Aites, Travis Daugherty, Natasha Daugherty, Becca Stromyer and Marcus Stromyer; great-grandchildren, Ayden and Milo Stromyer, and Austin Scott; sisters, Katherine Bowser, of Huey, and Janet Fish and husband, Earl, of Cheswick; and sister-in-law, Shirley Switzer-Aites, of Reidsburg.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jason Allen Aites, who died July 30, 1999; brother, William E. Aites; sister, Dolores Aites; infant sister, Judy Ann Aites; brothers-in-law, Ronald Seybert, Ernest Bowser and Frank Saylor; and sister-in-law, Ermagean Saylor.

The family will receive friends from 11 AM until the time of funeral services at 2 PM on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home, 758 Main Street, Rimersburg, with Pastor Rob Hranicky and Pastor Barry Markle co-officiating.

Burial will be in Rimersburg Cemetery, Rimersburg, Pennsylvania, where military honors will be presented by American Legion Honor Guard Post #0454 and VFW Post #7132.
