Karen A. Volek

Karen A. Volek, 65, of Kittanning, PA, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at her residence.

She was born March 30, 1951, the daughter of Stanley A. and Dolores (Kane) Volek.

Karen grew up in Kittanning and was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was a 1969 graduate of Kittanning High School and graduated from New Castle Business School in 1971. Karen resided in Shaker Heights, OH until 1990 when she returned to Kittanning after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College. Karen was employed by the Cleveland Clinic Foundation as a liver and bone marrow transplant coordinator for 25 years, retiring in 2010.

She is survived by her brothers, Timothy S. Volek and wife, Cindy, of Kittanning, and Thomas K. Volek and wife, Staley, of Butler, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Kathryn Volek (Rayl).

A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 AM on Monday, July 11, 2016 at St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 101 W. High St., Kittanning, with the Reverend Douglas E. Dorula as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Francis of Paola Cemetery, Freeport, PA.
