Marshall Z. Rankin

Marshall Z. Rankin, 80, of New Bethlehem, PA, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Clarion Hospital.

He was born April 17, 1934 in Wildcat, PA, the son of James Alcana Rankin and Minnie Ianz (Walter) Rankin.

Marshall lived in the Rimersburg area all his life and worked as a miner operator for R&P Coal for 20 years. He greatly enjoyed working in the mines and for an additional 22 years also held positions at various mines in the area. Marshall was a lifelong member of Wildcat Wesleyan Methodist Church and loved belonging to the congregation. Farming was another one of his hobbies and he often spent his time helping others by running errands. Marshall will be remembered as a loving family man who was the perfect model of a Christian.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 61 years, Florence (Renninger) Rankin, whom he married July 6, 1953; sons, Ronald "Bub" Rankin and wife, Beth, of Distant, Donald Rankin and wife, Leanne, of New Bethlehem, and Doug Rankin and wife, Tracy, of Rimersburg; daughters, Joyce Miller and husband, Larry, of New Bethlehem, Marsha Bowser and husband, Bud, of Rimersburg, Rhonda Lineman and husband, Chuck, of Rimersburg, and Connie "Sis" Kirkpatrick and husband, William, of Rimersburg; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Rankin, of East Brady; and sisters, Jane Mills and husband, Jim, of Punxsutawney, and Millie Troutman, of East Brady.

Marshall was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Larry Miller, Jr. and Kessa Beckwith; brothers, Franklin, Gene, Daniel, Jim and Chet Rankin; and sisters, Kathleen Centorcelli, Fredella Moore and Donna Swartz.

Relatives and friends will be received from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 and from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main Street, Rimersburg.

Additional visitation will be from noon until the time of funeral services at 1 PM on Friday, January 23, 2015, at Wildcat Wesleyan Methodist Church, Rimersburg, PA, with the Rev. Mark Deeter and the Rev. William Davis co-officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, New Bethlehem, PA.
